The Tail of Smokey

Poor, sweet Smokey had an exam appointment with us for an abscess on his tail. Once he got examined by the Dr. he was sedated and we got to work shaving and cleaning his tail. To our surprise, once we could clearly see his tail we discovered he didn't just have an abscess, he had a whole bite wound! Our team quickly got to work cleaning out all of the punctures, draining the abscess that had formed, AND stitching up some of the larger lesions. Smokey definitely wasn't excited about wearing a cone, or having a partially shaved tail, but we're sure he was pleasantly surprised to wake up and swish his tail with a bit more swagger. Smokey came back to get his sutures taken out a few weeks later and we are thrilled to tell you that he healed up perfectly! And don't worry, his fur grew back!
