Peggy the Peg Leg and her Handsome Brother Jack!

Read this one all the way to the bottom to read their full story and watch these two grow!

Meet Peggy, she and her brother, Jack Sparrow, were trapped at a house in Eureka. Peggy was trapped with only three legs, her hind leg was severed at the equivalent of the shin bone. At the time she was trapped, her injury had healed over, leading our volunteer to initially think perhaps it was a birth defect.

Peggy and her brother came in for dewormer, vaccines, flea treatment, and a brief exam to see if her leg was painful. To everyone's surprise, the bone had punctured through the healed skin and was now an urgent matter! The compound fracture was fully exposed.

Dr. Ott successfully removed the remaining part of her leg to ensure Peggy would never have to endure this level of pain again!

Her care has proven to exceed our funds for urgent foster care. Peggy, of course, deserved this opportunity...it was her only chance!

Peggy and Jack are settling in nicely to their new home! They've been with their family for a year now and they could not be more spoiled! They love waiting for their human siblings to drop crumbs on the floor, they enjoy bird watching from their window perch, and sitting out in the sun room.

We are so happy they have such a wonderful new home and that they get to enjoy it together!

Thank you to everyone who donated towards Peggy's medical care and leg amputation surgery! She is now living her best life with Jack, and we are so excited for them!
