Andi and the Double Enucleation

Everyone meet this beautiful, strong cat named Andi. This sweet girl underwent a double enucleation, which means the removal of both her eyes! As a kitten, she suffered juvenile glaucoma that has affected her all the way into adulthood. The pressure from her eyes growing to such a large size caused her to go blind, and she unfortunately was in pain 24/7.
Can you imagine having a migraine every day?
After coming to us, Dr. Ott referred her to an eye specialist who agreed there was nothing that could be done to save her eyes. Andi came back to the clinic and the double enucleation commenced. Her surgery was smooth sailing, and she is on the road to recovery!
Andi came by the clinic 5 days after surgery to hang out with us while mom was at work, and we are thrilled with her healing so far! She looked a lot more comfortable, was able to relax more, and her ears were happily perked up the whole time!
Thank you to all the support we've gotten over the years! Without the continuous support and donations from our community, we wouldn't be able to assist in making moments like this possible!
And a special thank you to McKinleyville Animal Care Center for loaning us an extra fluid pump so that we could continue with this procedure!
Update:
Our sweet girl, who recently underwent a double enucleation, came in to get her sutures out! She is so much happier and comfortable at home, rubbing her face all over her mom to show her how much she loves her. Mom says she used to just sit in the same spot on her cat tree and never move. Now she is exploring, jumping, playing, and following her mom all around the house. All that's left is for her to work on growing back that fur on her forehead!
